St Andrew's Badminton Group
ST ANDREWS BADMINTON CLUB
REPORT FOR 2019
St Andrews badminton club meets for club nights in the church hall on Monday evenings from 7.30pm, with league matches played at West Kirby Concourse on Wednesday evenings.
2019 was a successful
and enjoyable year for the club, although unfortunately at the start of the
2019/20 season in September, several of our members were absent due to injury
or illness. Thankfully they are all now
on the road to recovery.
Wirral
Badminton League – we still manage to field 3 teams in the League, despite
being 3 ladies and 2 men short this season. Matches are always good fun and
played in good spirit. Several clubs are struggling for players, some have
folded so we are fortunate to still be going strong and have great club loyalty
and camaraderie.
Every April we hold an end of season club tournament for all members to enter, with games played more competitively than on club nights. Cups awarded include the Riddall cup, the Macintyre cup and the Stewart cup, donated by past Church members when the club was in its early days.
We meet socially throughput the year, the highlight being the summer BBQ in Jul, hosted by two of our members in West Kirby.
Several of our members take a trip to watch the All England badminton championships to see how it should be done and pass on any tips to us all!
